Why thickness and construction matter
Thin decorative screens can work for many applications, but a heavier architectural panel has a very different feel. Corten Glass pieces are typically produced from 6 mm Corten steel, giving the panel visual depth and a substantial edge profile. The finished design also needs to consider how the panel will be supported, how loads are transferred and how it will interact with the structure around it.
Corten is a material that changes
Weathering steel develops its appearance through exposure to the environment. The colour evolves from brighter orange and brown tones toward a more mature patina. That change is part of the appeal, but it also means drainage and surrounding finishes should be considered before installation.
In particular, early weathering can produce rust-coloured runoff. Pale concrete, stone, paving and render should be detailed so water is not directed across visible porous surfaces.
